Industrial Engineering - Sustainable Energy Systems B.Sc.
Shaping the energy transition
This program will prepare you to play an active role in shaping a sustainable and climate-neutral energy future as part of the energy transition, both locally and globally.
As a future industrial engineer specializing in sustainable energy systems, you will learn to analyze, design, evaluate, and operate energy systems and facilities in an energy-efficient, sustainable, and economical manner.
Therefore, you will be qualified in energy technology, energy management, and energy informatics. Topics such as renewable energies, security of supply, smart energy grids, and energy markets will form the core of your studies.
You will analyze and evaluate complex energy systems and technologies to learn the following:
- how to design, operate, and evaluate power and heating grids as well as renewable and conventional energy converters from a techno-economic and energy-economic perspective, but also how to further develop them,
- how to ensure security of supply with the growth of renewable energies,
- how to analyze energy policy decisions and market developments, interpret their implications for industrial and energy companies, and derive and justify corporate decisions based on this analysis,
- how to make independent business and systems engineering decisions based on technical, economic, and mathematical methods.
From the very first semester, our courses integrate project- and practice-oriented elements, allowing you to apply and deepen your theoretical knowledge. Through case studies, project work, and business games, you will address real challenges in the energy industry. You will primarily work in teams with students from higher semesters and industry representatives. Small class sizes allow for direct interaction with lecturers, classmates, and professionals.
