Study Locations

You will study at two locations of FH Aachen: at the Faculty of Medical Engineering and Technomathematics at Campus Jülich (usually only some specific practical training is offered here) and at the Akademie der Augenoptik (Academy of Ophthalmic Optics) in Dormagen-Knechtsteden.

Campus Jülich of FH Aachen, newly built in 2010, is located in the middle of the countryside on the Merscher Höhe. The euregional location in the direct vicinity of Belgium and the Netherlands is a particular advantage; in addition, there is the proximity to the Forschungszentrum Jülich (Jülich Research Centre), with which there is a wide range of cooperation - as well as with various other universities and companies.

Of the almost 4,000 students at Campus Jülich (total FH approx. 15,000), about 20% are of international origin. Teaching takes place in modern seminar rooms, and practical work is done in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art science and technology.

The campus library has a stock of about 50,000 volumes, plus journals and serials. Titles that are not available are usually purchased immediately when needed. Designated areas of the library are also available for study.
The facilities for students are rounded off by a dining hall, student accommodation and sports areas as well as a student café, a pub and barbecue facilities for social contacts to be intensified.

The Akademie der Augenoptik (Academy of Ophthalmic Optics) is the predominant place of study. It is idyllically located in Dormagen-Knechtsteden in a former monastery in the heart of the Rhineland. It is one of the most renowned public schools for ophthalmic optics and optometry and offers state-of-the-art technical equipment. Studies take place in a family-like environment in small groups. Professors and students interact on equal footing - this interaction facilitates a direct professional exchange between students and teachers.
