Admission Regulations for the Master's Programme Product Development in Mechanical Engineering
The program Product Development in Mechanical Engineering M.Eng. is an admission-restricted program. Accordingly, only a limited number of study places are available. In order to apply for a study program, you must fulfill certain admission requirements in addition to the general admission requirements. Before applying, please inform yourself in detail in the admission and examination regulations about the corresponding admission requirements and study program contents.

Admission Requirements
In addition to the general admission requirements, you must also meet the following requirements for the Product Development in Mechanical Engineering M.Eng. degree programme to determine your aptitude for the programme:
First Professionally Qualifying University Degree
A first professionally qualifying university degree after studying Mechanical Engineering or a comparable engineering degree programme with a study volume of at least seven semesters and 210 credit points (ECTS). For degrees outside the ECTS area, this corresponds to a study volume of at least 3.5 years according to the classification of the Central Office for Foreign Education.
Technical Basics
In order to be able to study on the Master's degree programme Product Development in Mechanical Engineering M.Eng., applicants must have the following basic knowledge from their first professionally qualifying university degree:
- Mathematical and physical fundamentals (mathematics, physics) totalling 20 CP
- Technical mechanics/design (statics, strength of materials, dynamics, design theory, design elements, design systematics) totalling 25 CP
- Manufacturing processes/materials science totalling 15 CP
- Business administration totalling 5 CP
If these subject-specific fundamentals have not been proven at the time of the aptitude assessment, they can be made up for with up to 20 credits. The Examination Board determines the modules to be made up for. The credit points of the modules to be made up for at FH Aachen are decisive for the calculation of the credit points to be made up for.
German Language Skills Required
A sufficient command of the German language is a prerequisite for admission to the degree programme. This is deemed to be proven if
- the university entrance qualification was obtained at a German-speaking institution or
- the previous university degree was obtained in a predominantly German-language degree programme or
- the German language examination for university admission (DSH 2, e.g. TestDaf 4x4, DSD II, Goethe-Zertifikat C2, telc Zertifikat C1 Hochschule) or equivalent examinations in accordance with the regulations for the German language examination for university admission (DSH) at FH Aachen as amended from time to time.
