Dean's Office
Der Fachbereich wird durch das Dekanat geleitet, dem neben dem Dekan vier Prodekane (zwei Professoren, ein wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter bzw. eine wiss. Mitarbeiterin und ein Studierender) angehören. Der Dekan vertritt den Fachbereich. Die Aufgaben des Dekanats sind die Weiterentwicklung des Fachbereichs, die Vertretung der Interessen des Fachbereichs innerhalb und außerhalb der Hochschule, die Stellen- und Mittelverteilung und die Organisation und Sicherstellung des Lehrangebots. Das Dekanat wird vom Fachbereichsrat für eine Amtszeit von vier Jahren gewählt.
Faculty Council
Die grundlegenden Aufgaben des Fachbereichsrats sind die Sicherstellung des Lehrangebots und des rechtmäßigen Studienbetriebs durch die Erstellung und den Beschluss von Prüfungs- und Studienordnungen sowie die Berufung neuer Professorinnen und Professoren. Der Fachbereichsrat wird von den Angehörigen des Fachbereichs gewählt und besteht aus insgesamt 13 Personen: sieben Professor:innen, drei Mitarbeiter:innen und drei Studierende. Die Mitglieder des Dekanats haben im Fachbereichsrat Antrags- und Rederecht, sind aber nicht stimmberechtigt.

Der Beirat des Fachbereichs besteht aus Repräsentanten von externen Unternehmen oder Forschungseinrichtungen. Die Mitglieder arbeiten ehrenamtlich und werden vom Fachbereichsrat auf Vorschlag des Dekans bestätigt. Die regelmäßig stattfindenden Sitzungen mit dem Dekanat dienen dem Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Fachbereich und Wirtschaft. Auf diese Weise wird die Praxisnähe und die Weiterentwicklung der Studiengänge gefördert.
Studienbeirat
Der Studienbeirat berät den Fachbereichsrat und das Dekanat insbesondere in Angelegenheiten der Studienreform, der Evaluation von Studium und Lehre sowie bei dem Erlass und den Änderungen von Prüfungsordnungen.

Do you have questions about re-registration, changing degree programmes, leave of absence or online applications? The staff of the Registrar's Office are available to answer your questions.
The responsibilities of the Examination Office include the administration of exam registrations and deregistrations as well as the registration of grades, the issuing of certificates or diplomas and the checking of admissions or non-admissions to exams or final theses.
The departmental secretariat is always the first point of contact in case of doubt and can refer you to the appropriate contact person if necessary.

Help during your studies
Do you have questions, problems or complaints? The faculty and the university offer a whole range of contact points.
If, during your studies, you have questions about the organisation, the course of studies or general problems with your studies, you can contact the respective Academic Counsellor with your questions.
If you have problems that you cannot solve with the lecturer in charge, you can contact the liaison lect urer. He/she will try to mediate and find a solution to your problem.
The liaison lecturer is nominated by the students.
The Examination Board ensures that the Examination Regulations of the faculty are observed. It makes decisions in examination matters. This includes the recognition of examination achievements in the case of a change of degree programme, but also the possibility of lodging an objection against the final failure of an examination (deregistration).

Quality assurance
The Quality Improvement Commission is concerned with improving the quality of teaching and studying. It makes proposals for the use of quality improvement funds and examines applications from the faculty. Applications can be submitted by all members of the faculty (including students). The commission consists of the three student members of the Faculty Council, a professor and a Research Assistant.

Laboratory safety
The many chemical and biotechnological laboratories of the faculty have a high safety standard. Depending on the potential hazard, there are different officers who take care of compliance with the applicable regulations.
