What is Civil Engineering?
Civil engineering is an engineering science that deals with the planning, structural design and construction of buildings and civil engineering structures, but also with the sustainable design of our environment. The field is made up of many subject areas and the tasks are broadly diversified:
- Planning of buildings and infrastructure measures
- Management of construction projects
- Design of supply and disposal facilities
- Construction management and supervision
In addition, the field of work of civil engineers has expanded considerably as a result of technical developments in the construction industry. The consideration of the entire life cycle of buildings is just as much a part of the tasks of civil engineers as project development, financing and facility management.
