Online Linguistic Support (OLS)
The Online Linguistic Support (OLS) is a language support component of the European Erasmus+ programme.
Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, further training, youth and sport. Erasmus+ gives you the opportunity to study, gain work experience or do voluntary work abroad. One of its strategic objectives is to support the improvement of language skills and the learning of a foreign language.
For more information, see Erasmus+.
OLS promotes foreign language learning for participants on an Erasmus+ stay abroad. OLS also offers the opportunity to assess your knowledge of one or more foreign languages that you will use to study or work during your Erasmus+ stay abroad. OLS offers online language courses and online language tests.
OLS is available in all 24 EU languages.

Language certificate | Language certificate
Information on the DAAD language certificate
For many of FH Aachen's partner universities - especially those outside Europe - or for free mover applications on your own initiative, a DAAD language certificate in English at level B2 is required if the lecture language is English.
If you wish to apply exclusively to RMIT University in Melbourne, Curtin University in Perth or UTS in Sydney in Australia or exclusively to a partner university from the Magellan network, you can use your German Abitur certificate as proof of language proficiency if it confirms 4 semesters of English with a minimum grade of "satisfactory".
The DAAD language test is not a multiple-choice test. The test consists of tasks on listening comprehension, reading comprehension, oral and written expression and linguistic structures. The exam is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), but is not standardised like TOEFL or IELTS. The exam usually takes about 2 hours.
For scholarship applications to the DAAD(www.daad.de and daad.de/go/stipd57478124), only DAAD language certificates issued by the language centres of the universities are generally accepted. Legally binding information on the language certificates accepted by the DAAD can be found on the DAAD scholarship website in the FAQ, the "Important scholarship information" and the detailed information on the application documents. Always use the current form for the DAAD language certificate linked on the DAAD website.
Test options in Aachen:
1) If you have passed a written examination in Technical English at the appropriate level in your faculty at FH Aachen, you can ask your lecturer to issue the language certificate (valid for 2 years)

How do I recognise a good language school abroad?
Pay attention to the following aspects:
- Are the services described in detail? Group size, number of lessons and minutes, learning method, learning objectives, teaching materials, language exams offered, accommodation, etc.
- Read the provider's general terms and conditions! Pay particular attention to cancellation reservations (cancellation of the course/trip if the number of participants is too low).
- In the case of tour operators, is the name of the language school stated?
- Is there a price increase clause in the contract?
- What training do the course leaders have?
- What is the content of the course?
- What is the learning objective of the course? Does the course prepare for an examination?
