Faculty 8 - Student Representatives (FSR8)
Our "Fachschaftsrat" (FSR) is part of the student self-administration and represents the interests of all students enrolled in the faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics (FB8). The office of the FSR is a point of contact where the selected student representatives try to settle all kind of student problems, provide assistance with setting up a lecture timetable and answer questions relating to study programs.
The student representatives organize different student events, such as the introductory week for first semesters.

Faculty 8 - Academic counsellors
Academic counsellors support students by providing subject-specific information and advice on the structure and content of their studies. They are primarily the contact person for prospective students who need support in their decision-making process and who have general questions about a degree program, e.g., about

- study planning
- the options available during the course of study
- setting the main focus
- choosing a suitable master's program

For malfunctions of the media and lecture hall technology, the DVZ is responsible and can be reached directly, e.g. via the ticket system or by telephone.

Opening hours of the examination secretariat
The current opening hours are
Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 11.30am
telephone consultation hours Mon-Fri from 11.30am to 12.00pm
If you would like to make an appointment outside of these times, please send your request by email with your student ID number (in the subject line).
Final theses are submitted digitally by email to the Examinations Office and the respective supervisor. If the PDF file is larger than 5MB, please only use the Sciebo cloud and activate the e-mail address of the Examinations Office or [email protected] for this purpose. As the printed version of the final thesis must be stamped, you are welcome to drop by during opening hours. You are welcome to send the retention obligation in advance by e-mail. Please remember to include your student ID number (in the subject line of the email).
For applications regarding final theses, practical projects and the mobility window, it is sufficient to send them by email (a digital signature is sufficient).
FB8 - Quality Improvement Commission (QV Commission)
The Quality Improvement Commission (QA Commission) consists of the following members:

- 1 academic staff member
- 1 member from the Dean's Office (advisory function)
In order to continuously improve the quality of the study conditions, all members and students of the faculty can submit suggestions to the QV Commission (qv-kommission-fb8fh-aachen.de), e.g. for the improvement of internal procedures and processes, for the appropriate use of financial resources, etc.
These suggestions are then examined and forwarded to the appropriate bodies in a targeted manner.

Faculty 8 - Guidance counsellor
The liaison lecturer is nominated by the students and is the first point of contact in the event of deficiencies and problems in the area of teaching and study organisation that students are unable to resolve satisfactorily with their lecturers and examiners. The liaison lecturer's task is to mediate between the parties concerned in such situations and, if necessary, to bring about a solution to the problem via the Dean of the faculty.

FH Aachen - AStA (General Student Committee)
The General Student Committee (AStA) is the executive body of all students at the FH Aachen. The AStA is elected and appointed by the highest body of the students, the student parliament. The AStA is responsible for participating in events and carrying out resolutions. Furthermore, the AStA offers various services (all information on the AStA homepage):

You can use numerous online services such as e-books, e-journals and subject-specific databases anytime and anywhere.
Study & work space
The library provides individual and group workstations as well as PC workstations for you to study.
You can print PDF documents via the print station.
If you would like to scan documents or books, various scanners are available for you.
Training & consulting
We support you, for example, in the following areas:

FH Aachen - Career Service
The Career Service establishes the connection between the university and the economy and thus also between students and graduates on the one hand and entrepreneurs on the other. It makes use of its long-standing contacts with companies in the region and with national and international companies, as well as its cooperation with corporate groups, chambers of commerce, business development agencies, technology centers, research institutes, etc. The Career Service offers students a job portal and information on job fairs and job exchanges, among other things.

FH Aachen - Family Office
The Family Office is the first point of contact for students and employees who have children or care for relatives, as well as the FH Aachen's central institution for the topic of compatibility and family justice.
With a wide range of services, the Family Office helps students and employees of the university to combine family and caregiving tasks with the demands of studies and work. These include confidential advice and support in the search for individual solutions to family issues, the provision of on-campus childcare, the establishment of parent-child rooms and breastfeeding and nappy-changing facilities, the organization of networking and information events, and the provision of information about external services and other contact points.

FH Aachen - Psychosocial Counseling
The staff at the Psychosocial Counseling (PSB) supports students in coping with personal and study-related difficulties or in preparing for challenging study and life phases. The goal of counseling is to activate your abilities to change your situation and to support you in mastering crisis situations on your own.
You will usually receive an appointment for an initial consultation within a few days to a maximum of 2 weeks. In this initial consultation, your concerns will be disscussed in a calm and confidential setting. We will point out what you expect from the counseling and the scope of possible support from the PSB.
FH Aachen - Language Center
The Language Center at FH Aachen conducts foreign language courses and language examinations at the Aachen and Jülich campuses. An advisory office for students and applicants is located at the Aachen site.
German courses as well as various exchange programs are offered for exchange and visiting students.
Students can also register for various either university-internal or nationally/internationally recognized language examinations via the Language Center.
