Allocation of Study Places

At universities, a distinction is made between admission-free and locally admission-restricted degree programmes:

  • In the case of degree programmes with open admissions, all applicants who meet the admission requirements are accepted.
  • In the case of degree programmes with local admission restrictions, only a limited number of places at university are allocated. For this purpose, an allocation procedure is carried out within the university in order to filter out suitable applicants. This is often done with the help of the Numerus Clausus (NC).

Numerus Clausus (NC)

Numerus clausus is synonymous with admission restrictions. The NC is therefore not a grade.

If there are more applications than places at university and not all applicants can obtain a place, the NC applies. This means that in such a case the number (numerus) of admissions to a course of study is restricted (clausus).

The only thing that is fixed in advance is the number of available places at university. No grades are set in advance.

The application with a foreign university entrance qualification takes place via uni-assist.de. Please submit all required documents to uni-assist. After a positive check, uni-assist will forward your documents to FH Aachen. Checklists for the application procedure can be found at uni-assist.
