Applicants with Foreign Proofs of Education
Would you like to study at FH Aachen and have obtained your school-leaving qualification abroad?
On this page, we have compiled all the important information about the application process and the required German language skills for you.
Please note that there are special rules for the application procedure for applicants from East Belgium.
Bachelor Application via uni-assist
What is uni-assist?
uni-assist (Service Center for International Applicants) is an association that works on behalf of many German universities. Uni-assist checks your application for completeness and whether you meet all the admission requirements for your desired degree program.
If you come from abroad and/or attended school or university abroad and would like to study at FH Aachen, it is very likely that you will have to apply to FH Aachen via uni-assist.
Check university admission
Would you like to check in advance whether university admission to German universities might be possible?
www.uni-assist.de/tools/check-hochschulzugang/ (German version)
www.uni-assist.de/en/tools/check-university-admission/ (English version)
You can also obtain further information on the classification of foreign certificates from anabin (information system for the recognition of foreign certificates).
If your school-leaving certificate is not recognised as a university entrance qualification, you can first attend a preparatory college. A preparatory college prepares you for studying in Germany. In this case, the FH Aachen Freshman Programme may be of interest to you.
Do I have to apply via uni-assist?
You can apply for a Bachelor's degree programme at the FH Aachen via uni-assist if you:

How do I apply via uni-assist?
You register on the My assist online portal and transfer the service fee directly online during registration.
Your documents must be uploaded in full and in the required form to the My assist online portal before the application deadline. If you upload your documents after the application deadline, your application will not be processed.
The processing time is usually four to six weeks. You can track the status of your application directly in your My assist account.
After review, you will receive feedback from uni-assist by email. Your application will be automatically forwarded by uni-assist to FH Aachen if you meet all the admission criteria for the desired degree program.
You will also receive feedback by email if you do not meet the admission criteria or if your application was incomplete. In this case, unfortunately, your application cannot be considered by FH Aachen.
Note: A VDP is not required!
FH Aachen does not work with the VPD procedure. FH Aachen takes part in the standard procedure. You upload your complete application documents to uni-assist. If your application is positively reviewed by uni-assist, it will be forwarded to FH Aachen for further processing.
Proof of German Language Skills
When applying via uni-assist, you must already have, and provide proof of, German language skills at the level of DSH-1 or Goethe-Zertifikat B2 or telc B2-Zertifikat or TestDaF 4x3 or ÖSD B2.
