International Business Studies B.Sc.

How does a T-shirt actually get to the shop? Where do the raw materials for it come from? Why is the production moved abroad? And how does the price for it come about? These are some of the questions you will deal with in the International Business Studies degree programme. Essentially, International Business Studies is international business administration. Business Administration generally deals with the management, steering and organisation of companies. International Business Studies does this on an international level. Many companies operate across borders, have branches and cooperation partners worldwide. Raw materials are obtained from abroad or the goods are produced directly there. This requires business economists who coordinate and organise the processes in the company, but also observe the international market. This means, for example, that they prepare market analyses to identify country-specific trends, such as people's buying behaviour, consider cultural differences and develop appropriate strategies. At the same time, they keep an eye on the country-specific regulations and laws that they have to observe in their business activities.

In the International Business Studies degree programme, you transcend national borders, language barriers and cultural boundaries and are, therefore, optimally prepared to operate confidently on intercultural terrain after graduation. During your studies, you will spend at least one year at an English-speaking university abroad and get to know new cultures. In the 3-year degree program, you will spend the final year, in the 4-year program, one to two years of your studies at one of our various double degree partner universities. Once you have successfully completed your studies, you will receive an individual double degree – the Bachelor's degree from FH Aachen and the degree from the respective partner university. This will give you a decisive competitive edge in the job market.

During the first 4 semesters, you will study mostly together with the students in the Business Administration program. The International Business Studies programme places increased demands on students, as they must successfully complete all examinations within the first 2 years of study in order to start their period abroad as planned. For this, students have two exam attempts per course. This requires students to be more willing to perform combined with good time management.

We offer International Business Studies in two different degree programme variants, as a 3-year variant or as a 4-year variant, each with different partner universities.

Please note that the study programme Internatoinal Business Studies is taught in German during the first two years in Aachen. Thus, German language skills (DSH2) are required upon application.
